Dr Oz touts Sea Buckthorn Oil as fat fighter

Dr Oz touts Sea Buckthorn Oil as fat fighter
dr oz tout sea buckthorn oil diet

Earlier this year, Dr Oz touched off a frenzy in the diet and weight loss field when he revealed some very exciting news about Sea Buckthorns unique benefits for dieting.

Most of the show centered on the health benefits and growing popularity of the Sea Buckthorn Berry. But a brief segment disclosed the results of a recent study where mice that were given Sea Buckthorn oil did not gain any weight even though they were fed a VERY high calorie diet, while their counterparts that did not receive the oil almost doubled their bodyweight!

In this study, all the mice were fed an identical high calorie, high fat diet. For half the mice, the result was familiar to many people today – they got fat.

The other mice were fed the exact same diet, PLUS a large dose of Sea Buckthorn Oil. These mice DID NOT GET FAT, in fact, they gained no weight at all!

Omega 7 fats the key

Scientists believe that the Sea Buckthorn Oil sends a signal to the brain that prevents the body from storing excess calories as fat. It is thought that the Omega 7 fats in the berries is mostly responsible for this phenomenon, but further study is needed to isolate whether it is some single ingredients, or more likely, a combination of the Omega 3,6,7 &9 fats and 190 other bioactive ingredients in the Sea Buckthorn Berries that produce this remarkable effect.

When the results of this study were shown on the Dr Oz show, it prompted a frenzy of excitement over the possible benefits of Sea Buckthorn as a diet and weight loss aid. Further studies ongoing now seem to confirm that the Sea Buckthorn has a similar effect on humans.

If you are interested in trying Sea Buckthorn yourself as a weight loss aid, you need to look for Sea Buckthorn Seed Oil,

Acai Berry – African Mango – Sea Buckthorn
Great by themselves – even better together

Acai is the universally acclaimed #1 Superfruit, but African Mango and Sea Buckthorn Berry Oil are not far behind. They have both been featured by Dr Oz, and have University studies proving their weight loss benefits.

These 2 most recent Superfruit “discoveries” are similar to Acai Berry in that they have a lot of health benefits in addition to aiding weight loss. But the really exciting news is how they work even better together because they affect different parts of the brain/body communications system, so you’re not just fighting the battle with one weapon.

More than one weapon in your weight loss battle

  • Sea Buckthorn – Signal the brain to block fat from being absorbed by the body
  • African Mango – Increase Leptin sensitivity to stop hunger
  • Acai Berry – Speed metabolism and fat burning, increase energy and stamina

Everyone’s metabolism and dietary needs are different. For example, if excessive hunger is your main problem, African Mango will probably be most effective for you.

If it’s low energy and slow metabolism, Acai Berry will probably be your best bet.

If you sometimes binge, the fat blocking abilities of Sea Buckthorn will be a great benefit.

But most people suffer from a combination of challenges in their weight loss battles and can benefit from all three weapons.

Thousands of people are seeing great results with this combination being called the SuperFruit Diet. In fact, they are the main ingredients of SDF-3, a very effective new supplement by New Life Botanicals.

The chart at left is of a study showing weight loss of 28 lbs for those given the main ingredients of SDF3 twice daily for 10 weeks, as opposed to those given placebo, who lost 4.6 lbs. Pretty impressive!

More about Dr Oz and Sea Buckthorn oil

The episode where Dr Oz revealed the results of the mouse weight loss study was actually a return engagement on the show for the Sea Buckthorn Berry. A March 11 2011 episode of the Dr Oz show where he praises the health benefits of the Sea Buckthorn Berry. There are actually 7 species of Sea Buckthorn, with the most common being the Hippophae rhamnoides. Approximately 90% of the worlds supply of Common Sea Buckthorn Berry is from China, where it is used for water and soil conservation. Less common is the Willow-Leaved Sea Buckthorn, of the Hippophae salicifolia species. This smaller cousin to the common Sea Buckthorn is found high in the Himalaya mountains of Tibet. This little yellow berry has been used by the Chinese and Tibetans for thousands of years for it’s health and beauty benefits.

The female Common Sea Buckthorn produces an orange berry about 6-9 mm in diameter, that is soft and juicy and rich in oils. It is this oil that has garnered much interest in the last few years for its skin care, disease fighting, antiaging and nutritional benefits. The Therapeutic benefits have been widely known for thousands of years, but have only recently been studied extensively by western scientists. As part of these studies to ensure that there were no negative side effects from using Sea Buckthorn oil, scientists fed mice large doses of the oil. No negative side effects have been noted, but a surprise result was the mice lost weight!
